One of things I like about working in marketing is the exposure to (and need for) new ideas. There is even a well proven 5 step process for coming up with creative solutions to problems.

But how do you make sure you come up with an idea that is worth implementing? Not so boring or anodyne that no one will notice? Not so extreme that it becomes too niche?

If possible I like to build in time to allow ideas to evolve. Don’t overthink the first ideas. Try at first to go with something outside your comfort zone. Then try on a different idea for size. And then another. With any luck you’ll swing from too wild an idea back to something too boring and settle somewhere worthwhile in the middle.

Perhaps best illustrated by my search for a good #ISO #WFH desk space:

The next challenge is finding ideas that are suitable for your business, attractive to your market and whose time has come. That’s for another time perhaps.
